Egen Work
About

Work is dignity. Hiring should act like it.

Egen Work is the simplest version of hiring that respects both sides. Workers find roles that pay clearly in Naira. Employers pay only when the hire holds. The people who make introductions that stick finally get paid for it.

Why we built this

Hiring for everyday roles runs on guesswork and upfront money. The employer pays before they know the hire will last. The candidate sometimes pays just to be seen. And the person who actually vouched for the right fit gets a thank you, if that.

We thought the money should follow the outcome. Hold the fee until the work proves itself, show every party exactly where it goes, and pay the people who make good matches happen. That is the whole idea, and everything we build answers to it.

The old way

Everyone carries risk except the platform.

  • Employers gamble

A hire walks in the first month and the fee paid upfront is gone. The risk sits entirely on the side least able to carry it.

  • Candidates pay to hope

An upfront fee buys an introduction and nothing more. The people with the least money take on all the cost.

  • Scouts go unpaid

The neighbour who vouches for the hire that actually sticks does the real work of trust, and never sees a naira for it.

Put the risk where it belongs, show the money plainly, and pay the people who make hiring work. Do that, and good work gets rewarded on every side.

What we hold ourselves to

The thesis, built into the product.

Where we are going

Built to travel.

The model is not tied to one place. Wherever people hire for everyday work, the same problem shows up, and the same fix works. We are building Egen Work to grow with it.

We are starting with domestic work, hospitality, and retail, and we are now serving Lagos first. That is where we are today, not the ceiling on where this goes.

Hire, work, or refer. Start where you fit.
